Happy Hound Travel takes your privacy seriously. This page explains what we collect, why, and what happens to it. We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
When you order or contact us, we collect:
- 01 Name, email, phone number and delivery address
- 02 Order history and any messages between us
- 03 Technical data such as IP address, browser type and which pages you viewed
- 04 Marketing preferences, if you've signed up to hear from us
Your card details never reach us. Payments go straight to our payment provider. We never see, store or have access to your full card number at any stage.
Why we collect it
To process and deliver your order, answer your questions, handle returns and refunds, spot and prevent fraud, meet our legal and tax obligations, and send marketing emails if and only if you've asked for them.
Who else sees it
Only what's necessary, and only with:
- 01 Our e-commerce platform, which runs this store and processes orders
- 02 Our payment provider, to take payment and process refunds
- 03 Our delivery carriers, who need a name and address to get it to you
- 04 Government or law enforcement, where the law requires it
We don't sell personal information and we don't hand it to third parties for their own marketing.
Where it's held
Some of our providers store data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies
This site uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember preferences and understand how people use the site. You can block or clear them in your browser, though parts of the site may stop working properly if you do.
Marketing emails
You'll only get marketing from us if you've opted in, and every email has an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately. Order confirmations, dispatch notices and replies to your enquiries aren't marketing, so those keep coming either way.
How long we keep it
Order records stay with us as long as we need them for warranty, returns and tax purposes, which under Australian tax law is generally at least seven years. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach happens that's likely to cause you serious harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to fix anything that's wrong, or ask us to delete it where we aren't legally required to keep it. Contact us and we'll respond within a reasonable time, usually inside 30 days.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, come to us first and we'll look into it.
If our response doesn't satisfy you, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this from time to time. Whatever's published here is the version that applies.
